“The Lord God then took humanity and settled it in the garden of Eden, to cultivate and care for it” (Gen. 2:15). The ancient words of the Scripture set a godly plan that nowadays, in the middle of a climate emergency, resounds as a promise of a long-ago degrading garden. Eden is on fire! Its ecosystems are on the brink of collapse, its forests are depleted, and its seas are acidifying. Inundations, desertification, polar melting, and new extreme records seem to accommodate in our newspapers and TV news as frequent guests that compete with less “tragical” media content. The main victims? Those communities that have contributed less to this devastation, species that are unrelated to market logic, and ecosystems that struggle to adapt. Where is God? Where is his justice? Who will claim for Eden?
On this occasion, the 41st Edition of MOZAIK wants to delve into these questions and welcomes the voices of European and world students and activists committed to eco-justice and climate advocacy. We are interested in reflecting together through text, visual art, poetry, and other various means.
